Finally coming back to sweep the dust off the blog cos I was so caught up with the immense amount of Christmas celebrations I have no time for this. lol. Popular brunch place Common Man Coffee Roasters have opened a second outlet at a more accessible location in CBD so you can now have your eggs and toasts for lunch and pop in by after yoga on weekends at this Stanley Street outlet. The place was quite packed when we visited even though it just opened recently. But we were surprised the food came out pretty fast which was good, since it proved they can maintain a high turnover during lunch
Flat White $5
Serving their signature CMCR Espresso, I would have preferred their other blends. Not much of a fan of citrus coffee but nevertheless this was still a good cup of coffee
Umami Fries with Miso Mayo and Ramen Dressing $12
Hmm, not quite sure what to make of this seasoning. I admit it’s pretty unusual and it doesn’t taste bad but it felt like trying it once is enough
Marmite Mushrooms on Avocado Toasts with Microgreens $17
A pretty decent plate of mushrooms on toasts. Well seasoned, fragrant and appetising
Beef Ribeye Jungle Curry with Red Peppers, Haricot Beans & Baby Potatoes $21
One from their lunch menu, these slices of beef ribeye was really tender though I wished they had a bit more of curry sauce in them
Churros $12
Ending the meal with a plate of churros though we thought the churros were so-so. Would have preferred the sauce to be a little thicker though
The place here is actually pretty beautiful. I would guess it’s a good place to hang out if it is not so crowded. I like how they try to incorporate aspects of healthy choices in this outlet given the CBD crowd is more health conscious. Food-wise, they do serve a variety of options with a focus more on the lunch menu. So do give it a try if you are in the area, I think it serves some pretty decent food and coffee
