The concept of Casa Mori sounded interesting. It was a fusion of Singaporean and Spanish flavours brought together by Chef Willin Low and Chef José Alonso, to bring together something familiar yet different. It was pretty crowded on a Friday evening and at some point, service seemed to be playing catch-up as well

Crabmeat Otak Terrine $26
Seabass, Prawns, Rempah
The crabmeat otah was good. The spices were balanced, yet not overpowering. I think it was good on its own without needing the toast. The toast felt a little extra

Garlic Huajiao Prawns $32
Szechuan Pepper, Confit Garlic
Prawns were cooked decently as well, though similarly I don’t think it goes very well with the bread either. It was a strange pairing in my opinion. But you do get the flavours of the Szechuan pepper on the prawns which was a kick on its own

Black Cod $38
Chinese Olive Mustard Leaf, Japanese Takana
The cod was also strange. I get they were trying to recreate the familiar flavours of a steamed fish but this pairing is a no-go for me. The cod was very buttery on its own so when you pair with the Chinese olive mustard leaf, it somehow doesn’t go together. I had a bite of this and that’s about it

Iberico Pork Ribs $48
Honey, Miso

Ribs were cooked well. They were tender, sweet and fall off the bone easily. It was definitely the better of the 2 mains

Broccolini & Brussel Sprouts $24
Chilli Crisp, Tahini, Lemon
Well, vegetables were pretty well-cooked and I liked the spiciness on them

Hokkien Mee Fideua $58
Argentinian Red Prawns, Clams, Mussels, Bacon

I had high expectations about this dish, like I expected this would remind me of Hokkien mee. I get the use of noodles in Fideuà but somehow the texture and cook on this dish don’t really resonate with me. Perhaps they should rename this dish to Bee Hoon Fideuà instead

Mochi Churros $16
Chocolate Sauce, Homemade Kaya
Ending the meal with churros which were pretty average. I thought they could make the Kaya a little thicker and more fragrant
It felt like they were trying to be creative with the flavours by creating something unique yet familiar. The meal had hits and misses and there are definitely more that can be improved on. Personally, I felt they needed more time before getting on the right track
