Having resided at Marina Bay Sands for 6 years, Caffe B has moved to its new place at Club Street. The 3-story shophouse is divided into a bar on its first floor, dining area on the second and a private area on the third. The whole concept feels very relaxed, from its cutely decorated exterior to its chic furnishing and I like how each table is separated enough to have your own conversion without being intruded
A complimentary bread platter with 3 different styles
Farmer’s Egg & Sea Urchin $12
Creamy Clam Espuma, Shio Konbu Seaweed, Lemon Jam & Chive garnished with Edible Flowers
And of course giving their most instagrammable appetiser a try, which was pretty satisfying. The creamy clam foam was whipped to a texture that represents a smoothened egg white, sitting on top a semi-frozen lemon jam (egg yolk) and finishing off with a sweet and creamy uni
Espelette Octopus Salad $16
Tentacles marinated in Espelette, Lemon, Herbs, Burnt Capsicum Puree
Thought the octopus salad looked interesting but sadly the dish was somewhat far from interesting. The texture of the octopus was overcooked and too chewy but the I thought the overall flavours was decent
Octopus Cooked Japanese-Style with Potatoes and Herbs
The staffs were so apologetic they compensated us with another octopus dish. But after trying this dish, we concluded the texture of the octopus is just very chewy by nature such that we don’t recommend ordering. But I have to give them 10/10 for excellent service
King Crab Croquette $12
Deep Fried Creamy King Crab Croquettes in Crispy Breaded Batter w Truffle Mayo and Parma Ham
The croquettes were decent as well. Deeply fried to a crisp texture with a smooth blended crab filling that is overflowing, a piece each would be just nice. I thought it might get a little overwhelming if taken in huge quantities
Risotto Lobster Singapore $24
Buttered Risotto Simmered in Lobster Broth, Chilli Lobster Meat & Parmesan Cheese
I love their take on lobster risotto though I’m not very sure why they call this risotto lobster ‘Singapore’ since this isn’t very Singapore in anyway. The risotto base is infused with a sweet and tangy tomato-like broth and you can find bits of lobster meat in it. So if you are not a fan of tomato broth, you might not enjoy this dish very much
Queen Margherita $18
Neapolitan Pizza w Pomodoro Tomato Sauce Base, Mozzarella Cheese, Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Sliced Roma Tomato & Fresh Basil
I thought their pizza was just okay but wasn’t outstanding. Given a choice, I would probably order another of their main dishes instead of going for pizza again
Arabica Coffee Gelato & Mascarpone $12
Airlifed Chocolate & Marsala Wine Jelly, Coffee Cake, Caramelized Cocoa Nib
Looks pretty weird on its own but the flavours do come together when you eat them in one spoonful. But the chocolate was so hard I was worried a piece might just fly out of the window when I tried to cut it
Green Tea Tiramisu $9
Green Tea Mascarpone Cream w Fresh Berry
Very normal but it was a nice touch to the end of the meal
Overall I thought their dishes were aesthetically pleasing and they do have some good flavours. The ambience and service is another plus point. If they could just brush up on their weaker dishes, they might just be more reasons to return afterall
