The friend requested a meal at Yakiniquest and so we obliged. It was a rather nice evening and since we were early (they only open at 530pm), we sat by the riverside and just enjoyed the view. We were seated next to the private rooms half hoping that they were unoccupied so that we can catch a glimpse of the fireworks that evening but the staff told us the restaurant might be a little too rowdy cos of full occupancy. There goes our fireworks

You have to decide your menu when you reserve online so we took the Wagyu Fanatic Omakase ($168) which consists of 2 kinds of Starter, Japanese Salad, Wagyu & Uni Sashimi, Signature ‘Beef Noodle’ Niku Somen, Grill Beef in 8 Supreme Cuts, Wagyu Chazuke and finally Dessert. Our dinner started promptly and our server was entertaining all our questions with some humor

Cos what’s a meal without sake

Daikon w Wagyu Miso Paste
It’s a simple dish with quite an amazing texture. Love the wagyu miso paste with the sweet pieces of daikon

Ichibo (Aitchbone)
A tender piece of meat that was lightly cooked, pleasing to the taste buds

Sirloin w Uni

Look at the uni bursting out of the thinly sliced sirloin

Wagyu Niku Somen

The wagyu niku somen was definitely a winner. If you close your eyes, you would actually think you are eating somen. It was amazing

Starting on our grilled meats!

Chateaubriand (in Shio) / Premium Tongue (Back of tongue)

YUMS

Nicely done Chateaubriand

Wafu Salad

Chuck Flap with Truffle Oil

Hire Meme / Kamenoko

Pickled Vegetables – Unofficial palate cleanser

Hire Meme in this sauce was so good
The meal as what the staff explained was like a roller coaster ride. It took us through the ups and downs by enjoying the various cuts. The first piece of chateaubriand and tongue was so memorable we wanted a second portion. I didn’t enjoy the sushi cos the rice was served cold though we thought the slight taste of truffle oil definitely elevated the taste overall. The hire meme surprising. We were expecting a tougher kind of texture but the meat was rather enjoyable

And soon enough, we moved on to the second bottle

Bubbles 🙂

Yakisuki
Look how thin the slice was

Calamansi – Official palate cleanser

Side of Rib Eye
Beautiful pink colour

And a birthday meat cake for the birthday girl

I have to say the moomoo was really cute

Ribu Rosu w Oroshi Ponzu
Well since this was on the house, the meat definitely cannot be compared to what we had earlier. It was a little too fatty for my liking

Wagyu Ochazuke

Finishing the mains with ochazuke which was a combination of super tender meat and comforting broth, like I can have a second bowl of it anytime
Last course!

Milk

Hojicha

Red Bean
Dessert came in the form of icecream, which honestly was nothing to rave about. HA. It was just, icecream
t was a good meal, no doubt, coupled with good service and company. We casually mentioned we preferred the food here to the famous one at Robertson Quay and the staff said, well, sometimes it happens. LOL. We decided we were going to revisit, anytime if we had a craving for yakiniku in the near future
