There are not many Jjimdak stores in Singapore. And after a disappointing visit with Andong at Raffles City, I wanted to give Seoul JJimdak a try to see how they match up to the Korean braised soy chicken dish. Located on the fifth storey next to Golden Village, the restaurant sports a bright simple look with limited seating capacity. The menu is pretty straighforward with 3 main options to choose from – Seoul Jjimdak, Army Stew and Mayak Jjimdak. You can also add on extra ingredients if you would like something more
Simple side dishes to start
Makgeolli Sampler $19.90
The sampler comes with yuzu (L), original and honey (R). We all preferred the one with yuzu for something different yet refreshing
Seoul Jjimdak $36.90
They have offered to cook it in the kitchen for us since our table didn’t have space. We love Seoul Jjimdak’s version of the braised chicken, which was pretty similar to the ones in Korea. The chicken were tender with vegetables soft and infused with the sweet and salty sauce. A little spice with the added dried chilli, it was a dish we would order again
Army Stew $36.90
I appreciate the service as the staffs cook the army stew for us. Widely reviewed as one of the better army stews in Singapore, I would say this didn’t disappoint
My company love this so much they wanted to recreate this dish at home. lol
The broth has the right level of spiciness without being too diluted. And I think the most important thing about army stew is the broth, and also the abundance of ingredients
It’s definitely a place I would come back for some comfort food. And I’m glad to say there’s at least a decent Jjimdak place around now. Portion here for each dish is good for 2 pax as stated, but I would say the more people the merrier since you get to try a variety of dishes
