Marriott Cafe Durian High Tea Buffet 2017

Durian season is back! For durian lovers, Marriott Cafe brought back its Durian high tea buffet running from now till 9 August featuring some durian delights. I’m usually not a fan of buffet cos by round 2 I will be full. But since the friend and I wanted to try their durian desserts, we decided to give it a try. The cafe was fully packed with crowd, and it pretty much shows how popular this dining event is. Featuring a range of items, non durian lovers can also look forward to oysters and prawns from the Seafood station, laksa and chicken noodles from the Noodles station, pastries and International selection

The oysters and poached prawns were fresh and sweet. We helped ourselves to many portions of it

One of the better dishes, the laksa was worth wasting your calories

From the Nasi Lemak station, the nasi lemak was pretty meh

We love the puffs and mousse cake. The durian in the swiss roll was light, you pretty much can’t taste most of it. The mousse in the cup was a little too watery. The durian cupcake was good but a little overwhelmed by the white chocolate. The durian crumble was decent with a nice aroma of the crust. We tried the durian pizza as well, it just tasted weird

We had the durian crepe topped with durian icecream. The crepe would have tasted better if it was crispier but you can taste the durian meat in the crepe. Would have appreciate if they had given more filling as well. The icecream wasn’t legit. It tasted like roadside icecream

I was a little disappointed by the selection of durian items. And also, it’s supposed to be a durian high tea buffet, not high tea buffet featuring select durian desserts. I felt a little shortchanged. Perhaps we should have just gone with good old Goodwood Park’s
