Les Ducs – Not Your Usual French Menu at Ann Siang Hill

I had my birthday dinner at Les Ducs and I liked the food so much I brought the friend back for lunch for her birthday lunch. They serve different menu for lunch and dinner but I decided to just combine both reviews in one. Located at Ann Siang hill, the place was not very big. Yet, it was packed for both lunch and dinner and seemingly a popular choice for non-locals

Complimentary Bread

The sourdough was actually quite well-made and goes really well with the butter

Had a cocktail from Madam Claude’s menu. Well, it was pretty normal in my opinion

Assorted Cure Sausage Plate $9

Had this for lunch cos we wanted something light. The cured meat was actually pretty nice, each with its own flavour and texture. I would imagine it would go nicely with a glass of wine

Poached Foie Gras, Miso, Daikon, Mushrooms $45

Oh, this really surprised us. I enjoyed how flavourful it was, with the light broth and the well-cooked foie gras, along with the sweetness of daikon and mushrooms. I felt like I was having a bowl of soup with a fusion of French and Japanese ingredients

Seabream, Octopus, Clams in Fish Soup $48

This was really tasty too. You could taste the umaminess of the seafood – how rich and flavourful it was, with some well-cooked seafood. And oh, don’t forget to dip that slice of bread into that sauce. It was such a combination

Confit Duck Leg, Sautéed Potatoes $28

The duck confit was decent. Crispy skin, soft tender meat. Not much to fault about. The potatoes were done well too. But I thought it paled in comparison to the other 2 mains

Beef Tenderloin, Kampot Black Pepper Sauce, Fries $48

I thought the sauce was the winner. It went really nicely with the beef, so much you would want to take another slice of the meat and dip it again with the sauce. Would recommend the beef anytime. They serve the beef with fries for lunch and wedges for dinner. But I had to say the wedges win hands down

Green Beans, Parsley, Garlic Butter $15

Sides to go along which actually surprised, in a good way

Fries for lunch

Wedges for dinner

This was so, so good

Vanilla Custard $8 (left), Chocolate Mousse $9 (right)

Desserts were decent. We thought the texture of the chocolate mousse was quite nicely done, though the vanilla custard was a slight touch on the sweeter side. But the caramel was really fragrant and complemented the smooth custard nicely

Overall, quite a decent and impressionable meal even though they serve different menu for lunch and dinner. Give both menus a try! They are good in their own way. The only downside to this place was service is a little on the slower side and it tends to get difficult to call the service staffs for attention. And in that case, maybe drink abit more wine. At least your attention will get a little diverted
