Celebrated the friends’ birthday at Jungle, located at Ann Siang. I had always wanted to give this place a try cos everytime when I walked past, it’s just packed. And I’m glad I finally got to try it. We were there for the the earlier seating while the later seating starts at 8pm and it was quite crowded already

The menu was quite straightforward and given there were 6 of us, they said we could everything on the menu a try. Well, we did try many of their dishes

Pomelo-Lemongrass Salad, Candied Coconut, Dried Shrimp $19
Starting with this pomelo salad that was a splash of flavours. You could taste the fish sauce in it, fragrance of the dried shrimps and sweetness of the pomelo. This was actually pretty good

Northern Duck Laab, Lanna Spices $20
I thought the duck laab was quite interesting cos it’s not something I would order often. It tasted like flavourful minced meat but went very well with the raw vegetables. The friends found it a little salty but it was okay for my palate

Isaan Style Fish Laab with Fresh Herbs $20
We had the fish laab as well but I thought the duck laab was better in terms of flavour and texture

Southern Style Charcoal Grilled Chicken $17
When we had a piece of this chicken, everyone’s eyes widened. There was no more words needed for this chicken

Sugarcane Smoked Pork Jowl, Nam Jim Jaew $28
The pork jowl was also done pretty well. But if you asked me to pick the chicken or the pork, the former wins

Grilled Barramundi, Laksa Leaf Nam Jim $25
The fish was also worth the order. I thought the spices and flavour of it came together very well and it was just delicious

Angus Beef Skewer, Nam Jim Jaew $26/pc
I asked the staffs if we should order the skewer or the brisket and they said order both. lol. So we did. But I preferred the execution of the skewer. The beef was done very well and it was good

Northern Hammered Beef Brisket, Galangal chilli Relish $24
The brisket felt like a plate of beautiful mess. I wished there was a slight touch of sauce to it and I thought the spices were a little overpowering

Charcoal Grilled Cabbage, Soy Ginger Sauce $14

Grilled Mushroom Namtok $16
We got both the cabbage and mushrooms as sides to go along. I preferred the cabbage. You could taste the grilled taste in the cabbage and it was flavourful to along with all the mains that came along

Southern Crab Yellow Curry, Wild Rice Shoots $34
I think we ended the mains on a high note. This yellow crab curry was also everyone’s favourite. It was hearty, full of crab meat and really good to just go with a bowl of white rice

Grilled Banana Cake, Gula Melaka Caramel, Coconut Ice cream $15
When it was time for desserts, I actually only wanted to order one portion of this. And everyone went – just one?! I see either the friends really enjoyed the food here or they were still hungry. lol. So I ordered 2 of this
I thought the grilled banana cake was a good ending to the meal. The banana cake wasn’t too sweet but you could taste the fragrance of it. The gula melaka was a good balance and the coconut ice cream was a nice touch to it. Overall, it was an enjoyable dessert
The food at Jungle was really good and everyone loved it. It’s a different kind of Thai cuisine and one which I think it’s worth giving it a try
