I always see my friends patronising this place on IG hence I decided to drop by for a visit too. Opened by the PS cafe group, this casual restaurant focuses on Japanese fusion. I actually quite like the whole setup of the place. It gave off a chill and relaxed atmosphere and felt like a good place for catching up with friends. The place was actually quite packed for a weekday lunch, and considering its location, I was surprised
Yuzu Gin Fizz
Jypsy Salmon Tacos (2 pcs) $15
Salmon, Seaweed, Avocado & Tomato Salsa, Wasabi Mayo, Ikura
This was a surprise. Love the crispy seaweed packed with small bits of salmon sashimi and wasabi mayo to give a little kick, finishing it off with ikura and caviar
Lobster & Crab Gyoza (6 pcs) $16
Prawn Bisque & Dashi Foam
This was not bad, thought I thought the pairing of prawn bisque and dashi form was a little strange
Obasan’s Sticky Beef Sliders $15
Pulled Beef Shortribs, Crunchy Cabbage, Toasted Soft Butter Brioche
This was unexpected. I was kind of expecting a full slab of short ribs, though I thought the whole flavour came together. But given how the protein was presented like this, perhaps they might want to make the bread less thick as well. Somehow, it felt like an out-of-proportion plate of sliders
Jypsy Cali Chirashi $18
Pickled Crab, Dried Sakura Shrimp, Avocado, Cucumber, Egg Omelette, Miso Soup
Probably the best out of the lot, I thought the chirashi surprises in its own way. Love the pickled crab and the crispy sakura shrimps which gave the crunchiness and the creaminess of the avocado to wrap it off. I would order this again in a heartbeat
Crispy Shrimp $21
Tempura Tiger Prawns, Avocado, Peperonatta Mayo, Red Yuzu, Kaffir Lime
I say, give this a miss. I rather try something else
I thought the food was fun and decent. Well, it’s not your typical kind of Japanese fare. It’s somewhere to consider if you prefer a casual kind of cuisine and environment
