Located at MBFC, the casual restaurant is part of the Salut Group. Dark, quiet and unapproachable was what it seems to be. We went there to try their lunch set as on face value, it seems like a good deal. But after you add in all the extras, it does not seem to be as affordable as it is.
Traditional French Onion Soup
The side of the bread seems to be a little hard. Maybe they toasted too long it wasn’t crispy anymore. It was a pretty average FOS
Lobster Bisque with Tarragon and Lobster Ravioli
The bisque seems more like a soup. The density was just not there
Crispy Confit of Duck Leg
The meat was very tender. But the skin was overly salty. I know duck leg confit is marinated with salt and herbs, but this dish just failed to make the mark
Roasted Chestnut and Wild Mushroom Ravioli
I would like it better if the mushrooms were more proportionate to the chestnut
Warm Valrhona “Guanaja” Chocolate Cake
Probably the best dish out of all the dishes I’ve tried. The cake was warm, the outer layer was crispy and I like the chocolate that fuses the whole dish together
Pineapple ‘Blanc Manger’, Poached Pineapple, Mint Honey Coulis
This was a little strange. A combination of 100% sweet + 100% sour
Honestly speaking, I’m a little disappointed about this place. I heard Au Petit Salut was pretty good so coming to Chez and after trying it, the food just wasn’t that fantastic after all. But I would still give Au Petit Salut a try, and it will come soon 🙂
