Esora – A Delightful Seasonal Lunch

Was contemplating where to go for Christmas lunch so when I proposed Esora and the friend surprisingly agreed, I was really happy. lol. I had always wanted to give this place a try but felt like the price point don’t make sense. Surprisingly this time round, their 7 course lunch menu was priced at $178++ and the friend mentioned they had cut the number of courses. And surprisingly, I was late for lunch this time which I felt really bad about it. I hope they don’t ban me. lol

The place was bright, elegant and modern and it feels like you are dining in a very big space

Foie Gras Monaka

Lemon, Pear

Starting with Esora’s signature monaka with seasonal autumn menu, the lemon and pear substitution was a delight. It was refreshing, citrusy yet balanced and it somehow went really well together

The friend joked he will try to make this at home

The 5 different types of mushrooms to be used in our next course

Chicken Wing, Mushroom

This must be the nicest chicken wing with stuffed fillings. The use of mushrooms in this chicken wing was brilliant and they had done it so well. Juicy on the inside yet crisp and tender on the outside, it was really worth remembering

ESORA Autumn Hassun

Katsuo w Peanut, Sesame, Chives

Aori Ika, Hokigai

Persimmon w White Sesame

The katsuo was good. I thought the flavours worked well together. I found the cup of ika and hokigai left a bitter aftertaste but the friend said he didn’t taste it. Okay maybe it’s just me. The persimmon was so sweet but yet balanced with a nutty white sesame taste

Somen, Caviar

Cold somen served with hamaguri and shiso. The somen was well cooked. You could taste the thin strands of noodles as you chew on it. Overall flavour was pretty light but yet finished with a slight saltiness of the caviar

Kinmedai, Shiokoji

The fish was really well cooked. And I specially enjoyed the cook of the skin. It was really good

Donabe, Beef

A fragrant bowl of donabe with an earthy mix of vegetables

I went to the washroom for abit and I don’t know what happened while I was away. lol

I hope they allow me to return cos of the drinks we had. Ha

Pear, Yoghurt

The dessert was good. I felt it was light and refreshing enough to end on the meal on a good note. It was sweet yet citrusy and balanced

Seasonal Fruit Tart

If the previous dessert was like a palate cleanser, this mango tart really end the meal on a sweet note

Finishing off the meal with tea, kappa-style

I really enjoyed my meal at Esora and was so glad I had the chance to dine there. The friend said the food was surprisingly better this time round for him. I’m glad it changed his mindset cos that means I can go back again. lol. I would try to be punctual the next time round
