This place at Boon Tat street had been around for some time but we just didn’t have the opportunity to head down, until one day the cousins and I decided to make it happen. So we took a virtual queue number online, tracked the queue movement and appeared at the restaurant just in time for our turn! Do note all parties need to be present before they seat you and we were stressing the last one who had yet to arrive. lol
They take your order while you are waiting outside so by the time you are seated, the food appear soon enough. Very efficient. I like

Banchan to start

The banchan are pretty simple. Just kimchi and spring onions which were both equally spicy
The menu for lunch was straightforward. They only have 3 items. So we ordered all 3

Busan Style Daejigukbab $21
The rich and clear soup reminded me of a combination of bak kut teh & pig stomach soup. lol. The soup was served hot, like really hot which was comforting for the stomach. This kind of broth would work especially well in cold or rainy weather. Unfortunately it was a hot hot day that day when we visited. Nevertheless, there was still a long queue outside

Milyang style Daejigukbab $21

The other broth was rich and heavier which you could evidently taste the flavour of pork in it. It was also tasty. I felt this was more collagen-like as compared to the clear broth so it was just a preference of different style. The pork slices were sliced thinly so it was tender and easy to eat. And the rice was hidden at the bottom, so it felt somewhat like eating a bowl of porridge

Ohgyeopsal Sooyuk $45

We were recommended to give this a try. And I was glad we did. This boiled pork was so good the fats simply melted in your mouth. You might be thinking – omg this is so fatty as you take up a slice of the pork. But trust me, you would help yourself to another slice of it. I thought this boiled pork was even better than the pork in the soup itself. You simply need to give this a try

We were asked to first eat this with 1) Salt 2) Fish Sauce then 3) Tofu & Chives / Garlic
It was a rather interesting pairing as each condiment brings out a different flavour
Highly recommend to share this platter with a bigger group cos we struggled to finish them. The cousin commented they should serve some non-pork dish, like steamed egg or something. It’s just simply too much meat. lol
I finally get what the hype was about, and the incredible long queue whenever I walked past this place. Not a place I will go often, but definitely one I wouldn’t mind going back
