The friend wanted to try the brunch menu at La Bottega and since it was her birthday, we gladly obliged. But what started as brunch became breakfast, lunch and dinner for some of us cos it was just too much food. lol. I’ve been to La Bottega previously for lunch and it was already a struggle. This brunch was testing my limits. Priced at $98++ per adult, diner can pick any 4 course off their 22-items menu. And since there were 6 of us, we told them we would have everything on the menu 😀
Insalata
Mesclun Salad, Charred Artichoke, Ricotta, Croutons
Robiola
Robiola, Roasted Datterino Tomato, Basil, Pine Nuts
I preferred the robiola to the ricotta for its texture. But their cheese and tomatoes were really good
Caciocavallo
Smoked Caciocavallo, Chilli, Honey, Parsley
Pan-Fried Cheese from Dolomites
The pan-fried cheese was the crowd’s favourite. Definitely a must-order. The Caciocavallo on the other hand, was well okay I guess. lol. I mean if you had to pick one, you know which one to go for
Coppa
Iberico Coppa, White Pizza, Pickles
Bresaola
Australian Angus Home Cured Bresaola, Parmigiano Reggiano 24 Months, Organic EVO “II Fattore”
The bresaola was worth a try too. It was nicely cured and the Parmesan further brought out the flavours when you paired them together
Calamari
Red Capsicum, Tuna Bottarga
Oh these calamari was amazing. Enough said
Vitello Tonnato
Duch Veal, Tuna, Organic Olive Oil
Focaccia di Recco Tartufo $58
We added on the focaccia based on a friend’s recommendation. It was good. The aroma and taste of the truffle on the freshly baked bread was delightful. But on hindsight, we probably shouldn’t have ordered that cos there was too much food at the end
Margherita
San Marzano DOP, Buffalo Mozzarella, Basil, Organic EVO “4 Contrade”
Fungi e Mortadella
Fiordilatte, Mushrooms, Mortadella, Parmigiano Reggiano 24 Mths, Fresh Basil
Marinara: San Marzano DOP, Garlic, Anchovies, Olives, Oregano, Organic EVO “4 Contrade”
Parma: San Marzano DOP, Fiordilatte, Rocket, Parma Ham, Parmigiano Reggiano 24 Mths
San Marzano DOP, Fiordilatte, Parmigiano Reggiano 24 Mths, Home Made Salame
I would pick the mozzarella, mushroom and parma as my favourite. I’m not a fan of pizza but I would eat the pizza here anytime. The crust done so thin and well you need to give it a try
Pappardelle Salsiccia E Porro
Homemade Pappardelle, Sausage, Leek, Parmigiano Reggiano 24 Mths
I call this ba chor mee, Italian style. Love the texture and doneness of the pasta and the flavourful sausage pairing
Spaghetto Della Mamma
Spaghetto Pastificio Graziano, Sicilian Tomatoes, Basil, Organic EVO “4 Contrade”
Least favourite out of all, personal preference
Scialatielli Allo Scoglio
Homemade Scialatielli, Mixed Seafood, Organic EVO “II Fattore”
The seafood one was pretty good too. The flavours of the seafood sauce was evenly coated on each strand and love the generous portion of seafood in this dish
Guancia Brasata
Braised Australian Beef Cheek w Polenta from Belluno
Beef cheeks so tender it fell apart easily. And the richness of the sauce that went along with it was amazing
Porchetta Arrosto
Slow Cooked Spanish Pork Belly w Wild Fennel
The execution of this pork belly was done really well. Crust so crisp you can literally hear the crack when you slice it apart. If you love pork belly, you would probably enjoy this dish
Cartoccio Di Pesce
Fish of the Day Baked in Paper w Southern Italian Flavours
Least favourite out of all, more so cos of the olives. Well, it’s an acquired taste. I didn’t acquire the taste. lol But the fish itself was cooked nicely
Tiramisu Classico
Traditional Neapolitan Ricotta Cake
Sorbet: Chocolate, Lemon, Strawberry, Pistachio
By the time we hit desserts, we were really struggling. 3 bottles, x drinks and 24 items later, we rolled out of the door. I think we had an overdose of carbs. It was a good meal with enjoyable company though, just a little too much for us to handle
