It was a rather impromptu dim sum lunch date, but as I tried to make a reservation the only available timing was at 1.15pm. The popularity of the place is evident as on more than one occasion the restaurant seems to be fully booked. When I reached the place, I understand why. Located on the 4th level of Marina One where you take the lift up from the 3rd level lobby, Majestic Restaurant feels like a random restaurant out of nowhere. The place isn’t big which is why reservations are required in advance. Overlooking Marina One residences surrounded by lush greeneries, I felt like I was dining in an elevated greenhouse. Dining late has its own benefits too as the food came out so fast it was the fastest dim sum lunch the friend and I had. And the friend was feeling ravenous and went on an ordering spree
We spy whiskey and wine on display, which probably fits well in a business setting. If not you can opt for a traditional cup of tea. We had the lychee black tea from Guan Dong, which was surprisingly aromatic with hints of sweetness
Pork Siew Mai Dumpling w Mushrooms $6
Chewy, springy and bouncy. A staple in all dim sum
Glutinous Rice w Diced Chicken and Pork Wrapped in Lotus Leaf $5.80
Love the fragrance of lotus infused in the silky glutinous rice which was soft and sweet. The diced chicken and pork was incorporated with salted egg to give a more flavourful taste to it
Fresh Pork Dumplings w Chives $6.80
Which was really good. Do give this a try
Egg Tarts $4.80
I thought the egg tarts were alright. Nothing life-changing but you can still order
Rice Roll w Ireland Silver Hill Duck and Corainder $6.80
Which probably once is enough. The rice roll was a little too thick. It felt like the fusion went wrong
Beancurd Roll w Prawn and Chives $5.80
The beancurd roll felt different. It wasn’t as over-fried as other places which was still good enough to try
Radish Cake w Chinese Pork Sausage and Dried Shrimps $4.80
The radish cake was pretty good too. You can taste the fragrance of the dried shrimps with the silky smooth texture of the radish
7 dishes, 2 pax and we finished them all. And we concluded this place is worth returning. Would love to give their ala carte dishes a try as well but perhaps on another occasion. And if you happen to be working in the area and thinking of somewhere for business lunch, this place is worth considering
