A confusing name to the cafe, Slayer Coffee which is now known as Abbie’s Coffeehouse is a small coffee studio located on the second floor of Havelock II mall. Being located near Clarke Quay mrt station, the location of the cafe isn’t hard to find, but it remains kind of hidden and with the mall so empty, sometimes you wonder how the traffic is like for this place. Anyways, the coffeehouse started from a mobile coffee cart and has since found its permanent place here. The place isn’t big, with few tables and chairs for dining in. The menu consists of a variety of options, from the classic latte, to members-only drinks, teas and selected bakes for the day
Flat White $5
Using a blend of Colombians and Guatemalan beans, the coffee was milky, creamy with a smooth finish. There is a lingering fragrant aroma of the coffee with a nutty aftertaste
Cinnamon Latte $5 (Members-Only)
The cinnamon latte tasted strange to me at first. Perhaps the two components of the coffee and cinnamon were so distinct they were just literally fighting with each other. But the blend does seem to come together after awhile
Matcha Latte $5.50
The matcha latte was probably not my favourite. It was leaning more towards the bitter side
Matcha Cheesecake $7
Unfortunately for the matcha cheesecake, it needs improvement. The flavours of the matcha and cheesecake tasted so separated that they don’t come together. The cheesecake was smooth, but maybe too smooth in comparison to the matcha
I do think they serve a good cup of coffee. And some of the more interesting drinks include black sugar latte (members-only), iced maple latte (members-only) and roasted sweet potato latte which I don’t mind trying the next time I visit. But this place is a little quiet, perhaps too quiet at times, when I drop by to visit once in a while since it is near the gym
