Fans of Matchaya will be glad to know the brand has finally found a place in Icon village at tanjong pagar. Known for their delicious matcha and hojicha drinks, the menu has also expanded to include an array of other selection like soft serve, toasts, rolls and tarts

You can still find your favourite drink there but the expanded selections also meant we are gonna be spoilt for choice

Matcha Choco $5

Matcha with chocolate. Supposed to drink it straight before mixing so you could taste the bitterness of the chocolate before the sweetness of the matcha. I thought the taste after mixing wasn’t that defined and it tasted just matcha to me

Matcha/Nami Chocolate Soft Serve $6.50

The chocolate was actually a mystery flavour and I was glad I got to try it. I love the creamy and smooth texture of the soft serve. The matcha was distinct without being overshadowed by the chocolate. I also got to try their hojicha and black sesame mystery flavour too, and I have to say if you love black sesame you would be in for a treat!

Houjicha Brûlée Toast $5.90

Tried the brûlée toast as well which required some preparation time. The milk toast was toasted then topped with the houjicha spread and sprinkled with brûlée sugar. The toast was a little dry which lacked the fluffiness but the spread was thick and has a beautiful houjicha flavour. I thought the sugar was more visually appealing since the spread was probably heavier in flavour in contrast

There were hits and misses but I’m happy that Matchaya has a place to call home and for all the matcha lovers out there, you know where to get your matcha fix now 😉
