The friend wanted high tea for her birthday celebration so after much deliberation, we ended up at 10 Scotts @ Grand Hyatt. Located on the lobby level, you have to walk further into the hotel before you spot the lounge at the corner. And if you happen to walk in with no staffs attending to you, just find one of the service staffs to inform them of your reservation details given they will all be walking around. The afternoon tea has 2 seatings: 12-2.30 pm and 3-5 pm and we took the latter so that we won’t feel as rushed

We love the ambience of the place, with big plush sofa amidst a relaxed atmosphere

10 Scotts serve their high tea a little differently, with items replenishable and you can even visit the limited buffet section for cheese, sushi and cakes. There is also a ‘live’ section where the daily special differ from time to time

Each set comes in a two tiered tray with a selection of local and international delights

Take your pick from cold tomato soup, hot dog bread, curry puffs, homemade crab cakes and sandwiches

I think the crab cakes were the best out of the lot

We lost count of the number of prawns we had – they were pretty decent

Love the soft and buttery scones that were fragrant, complemented so well with the jams provided. Besides clotted cream and raspberry, 10 Scotts also gave an extra option of kaya to go along

And selection of 8 artisanal cheese to choose from

I think the food from the trays were so-so, so even though they were replenishable we didn’t help ourselves to extra portion. I was a little disappointed since I had expected more. But I think the food from the buffet line is worth a mention, and also the complimentary chocolate birthday cake that was so delicious. Still, given how you can eat to your hearts’ content here, this might pass off as a very late lunch and early dinner. It is definitely not light by any standard
