321. Okinawan Diner Nirai Kanai

This place is not your usual Japanese restaurant. Don’t expect to find your favourite sushi or sashimi there. Instead, what’s nice about this place is how homely the dishes are, like what Okinawan dishes should be. They are very much focus on their pork and stir fry dishes so don’t be surprised by how a simple meal can taste so outstanding.

A good sake to recommend

Wasabi Octopus

The wasabi will just go straight to your nose. It’s dangerously addictive

Crispy River Shrimp

So good and crispy

Gyoza

Deep Fried Octopus

This was pretty normal in my opinion

Garlic Fried Rice

Tastes like Japan

Deep Fried Minced Meat Patties

Simmered Pork Belly

3 words. It’s sooo awesome

Biraga Tashiya

Do not underestimate this plate of spring onion with simmered pork. You will never see spring onion in the same way after this.

Goya Champuru

Bittergourd with egg and tofu. The classic Okinawan dish and a fairly popular dish among the patrons. I, myself do not like bittergourd cos it’s really bitter. But if you are a fan of bittergourd, do give it a try

Pork Belly Soup Noodles

The friend decided to order this after I raved how awesome their pork belly is. haha

Definitely the highlight of our meal. This yakitori is so awesome you should really try it out. It’s worth every minute of the wait. The first bite is purely bliss, like imagining yourself in the cold weather drinking sake and eating yakitori at the same time (ahhh)

If you wanna have some good Japanese dishes, this place is definitely worth visiting.
