The friend suggested to try 54° Steakhouse which was nearby. Located at Amoy street, the restaurant is quite small and compact and seatings do feel a little too near for comfort. It would be nice if they have a bigger space area instead

Still, the place was packed given it was the festive season

We started with a welcome broth which was really warm and flavourful. We joked they should have given us a bowl instead

Rye & Shine $26
This was a re-invention of Whisky Sour which I thought it was pretty nice

Yellowfin Tuna $24
Nashi Pear, Smoked Ponzu, Cured Egg Yolk
The friends really liked this tuna dish. I thought it was slightly different with the cured egg yolk that made the dish even more flavourful. You can taste the savouriness and sweetness of the fish together

Pan Seared Foie Gras $28
Vanilla Scented Celeriac, Mirin Glazed Red Currant
I thought the foie gras was decent and the red currant glaze went nicely with it

Crab Soup $26
Spanner Crab, Brandy, Toasted Crab Brioche
One of my favourite dishes of the night. This crab soup was really good. It was packed with umami and you could taste the sweetness of the crab in it. Also, dipping the bread into the soup let you have another way of appreciating the flavour of the crab soup with the grilled flavour of the bread

Grilled Octopus $48
Chorizo XO, Potato Mousseline
Octopus was done well too and it’s definitely a good option to consider if you want something else other than steaks

Umami Bloom $26
Went for another cocktail cos the staff said this was one of his favourite

Chateaubriand 300g $148
We had the 300g chateaubriand that was more tender and less fatty. We had it done in medium rare as per suggestion though I would have preferred the cook to be done in medium after trying it

Creamed Spinach, Sunny-side Up $16
Spinach was nicely done and we loved the addition of the sunny side up that made it slightly different and a different kind of texture

Triple-cooked Potato Wedges, Bravas Sauce $14
They don’t serve fries here so we had the potato wedges instead. Well, let’s say I wished they had served fries instead. lol

Onion Rings, Tartar Sauce $16
We also ordered the onion rings and I must say this was one of the best onion rings I’ve had. The onion fries were executed really well. It was crisp on the outside with a thin onion layer inside. I would recommend this anytime

Banana Foster $16
Dates & Spiced Rum Ice cream, Caramelised Walnuts, Gula Melaka Crumble

Burnt New York Cheesecake $14
Blueberry, Vanilla
Ended with 2 desserts to round up the night. Cheesecake was their signature. It had a nice balance and smooth texture. I’m not a fan of cheesecake but I thought it complemented nicely with the blueberry. I preferred the banana foster which you could taste all the texture in one bite. The sweetness of the banana, caramelised walnuts and gula melaka crumble may all sound very sweet but yet, the sweetness all came pretty nicely together
54° Steakhouse was one of the surprise find among all the modern steakhouses with pretty decent food and nice cocktails which left a pretty good impression on me. Other than the space area that volume might get a little loud if people all start talking together, but if you are looking for something casual yet a good night out, you can give this place a try
