I like the concept by Ah Hua Kelong. So when I heard they had opened a new restaurant, I was quite excited to try it. Located at Outram road, it’s not the easiest for parking, but they have pretty good food in the area (like the zi char place a few units down famous for their crab bee hoon #IYKYK)

The restaurant wasn’t particularly crowded for a Sunday as I spy a few empty tables around. But they are clearly tight on manpower as it took time to wave for attention

Zucchini and Parmesan Fritters w Garlic Mayo Aioli $10

This tasted absolutely normal. Lol. The zucchini was a little too mashed for my liking. I would have preferred if I could taste some texture. It legit tasted like potato fritters to me. Even the friend agreed it was nothing much on this

Portuguese Seafood Stew $28

Pork Belly, Mussels, Clams & Prawns, Grilled Garlic Bread

I thought the stew was decent, though nothing really outstanding. Like it wasn’t wow, and pretty forgettable. I thought the pork belly was tasty though

Grilled Snapper Escovitch $30

The snapper was cooked well and I thought the pickled vegetables was nice but when you put the two together, it somehow really didn’t complement each other. It was just like two different elements on their own trying to make sense of each other

Corn Bread $6

American Style Corn Bread, Sweet & Crunchy w Grilled Corn Kennels

I wanted to order the broccolini but it wasn’t available. So I tried the corn bread. Somehow this tasted more like dessert. It wasn’t bad, but it was quite heavy for a side

I realized they forget all about my stuffed squid which I ordered. But now that I looked back, maybe it wasn’t that all disappointing they never served, looking at how the dinner had fared so far. The dessert menu didn’t interest me much either so we left it as that. To be frank, they had a lot to work on. If it’s just one or two items that didn’t impress, I would think they still have a decent menu. But overall the meal was one that was pretty forgettable
