The friend jio-ed us for Wakuda since the meal is going to be paid for so we gladly joined her for lunch. Located on the ground floor, the place was actually pretty crowded for lunch given the price so I was pretty surprised

There was plenty of light coming through, so much it was hard for us to face the windows. In the end, they lowered the blinds which proved to be much better

Cure $16
Lyre’s London Spirit & Italian Orange, Ginger, Yuzu, Grapefruit Soda

Wakuda Yuba $45
Fresh Bean Curd Skin From Kyoto with Hokkaido Sea Urchin, Mountain Caviar
The friend said I had to try this given this was her favourite item on the menu. I tried. Well, it was everything expensive in a bowl. It was decent enough but not necessarily mind blowing

Spicy Tuna Roll $28
We added a spicy tuna roll to share. It packed a whole lot of kick with the spice. It was.. hmm okay I guess

Grilled A5 Kagoshima Wagyu Sukiyaki $78
WAKUDA’s Sukiyaki Sauce, Egg Yolk
I went for an ala carte option of sukiyaki. The meat was very good. It was tender with a melt-in-the-mouth kind of texture and it was satisfying with the yolk

They also gave a small portion of rice to go along so you can soak up the sauce with it
The rest went for the set lunch that comes with an appetiser, mains and desserts. And if you are a Sands reward member, the price for the lunch set is slightly discounted (Prices below are before discount)

Bara Chirashi Set Lunch $85
Everyone concluded the bara chirashi was the most value-for-money cos you get a decent portion of chopped fish on little amount of rice

Wagyu Beef Rice Set Lunch $92
The beef bowl was apparently quite decent as well though they lamented the amount of white rice filled 3/4 of the bowl. lol

Somen $20
Light Bonito Dashi Broth, Ginger, Myoga

I added somen cos I thought the portion of the food here might be too small. But surprisingly, the portion of the somen was big. Honestly the somen was pretty delicious. The dashi broth was light yet flavourful and the somen was well-cooked. The tempura bits and furikake gave the whole dish a different flavour and texture for those who wanted variations of it

Daifuku $30
Japanese Seasonal Fruits, Azuki, Vanilla Amazake Gelato
We also added an additional dessert in the form of daifuku which had a mix of sweetness and a slight citrus-ness to it, finished by a thin layer of mochi skin. This felt more like a deconstructed form of daifuku though I definitely prefer the original form
They definitely had the quality and food overall is decent. But it is expensive for a casual yet upscale kind of meal. But if you are looking to impress a date or somewhere for a business lunch (which you don’t need to pay for), you can consider giving this place a try. It’s definitely one that is conducive enough where you can have your own private conversations without being intruded
