Meatsmith and Rempapa had a collab and I was quite interested to see how it turned like. There was no preview to the menu so I didn’t know what to expect. But the restaurant had quite a turn-out. Priced at $128, the set menu consisted of 3 starters, 3 mains and 2 desserts which I thought was decently priced

Was glad we went earlier with the restaurant having a full turnout as the night progressed

Otak Croquettes – Brandade Yellow Tail Fish Paste w Local Herbs
Ayam Pelencheng – Indonesian Style Grilled Chicken Mid Wings w Calamansi
We really liked the otah croquettes. You could taste the flavour of the otah yet wrapped in a nice crisp croquette texture. The chicken wings on the other hand was pretty average and the meat sticking to the skin was less than ideal

Beef Rendang Potato Gems
Braised Beef Cheek Rendang w Potato Gems & House-made Dil Pickles
The beef rendang was really good but more so with the fried potatoes. It was a bowl of really nicely fried potatoes
Moving on to mains

Smoked Octopus, Fingerling Potato & Chili Garam
I found the octopus too tough for my liking and I didn’t think the sauce stand out either. I gave up after awhile

Marron w Special Makanking Brown Butter Sambal

I rarely had marron but the meat was really nicely cooked with a succulent texture and I thought the sambal went well with it. It was a rather enjoyable dish

Sorrowful Rice
Steven Chow Inspired Iberico Pork Collar Char Siew over Rice, Hong Kong Kailan & Sunny Side Up

This was the nicest bowl of char siew rice I’ve ever had. The meat itself was done so well with a melt in the mouth kind of texture. The rice was dusted with light soya sauce and the lingering flavours of the the char siew, even better with a runny yolk

Acar Slaw
The acar slaw even though doesn’t look much but it was actually not bad

Osmanthus Jelly
Seaweed Coral Jelly infused with Osmanthus Flower, Calamansi Juice
I quite liked the osmanthus jelly. It was light, sweet, floral and you could taste the osmanthus in it

Kueh Sarang Semut w Kopi Icecream
And the dessert was wow. Rempapa really doesn’t disappoint. The coffee flavour was strong but yet it carried the dessert well on its own
Overall the meal was really enjoyable. Other than a few dishes that didn’t quite meet expectations but the rest was pretty decent. They should have this collaboration again. I think they went quite well together
