Cafe Monochrome – 2D Black & White Cafe Opens at Chinatown

Known as Singapore’s first 2D cafe, they had an outlet at Jalan Besar and then now another one at Chinatown. We weren’t planned to visit but cos the other cafe wasn’t opened for business yet and we were famished after our pilates so we just wanted somewhere to dine

So we decided to give this place a try!

Located at the bustling Chinatown area, the cafe soon got very crowded with tourists given it was the f1 weekend (yes this post is long overdue. lol)

And the whole place was just black and white. It did feel like eating in a cartoon-like setting and I was a little not used to it

Iced Mocha $8 Cappuccino $6

The coffee was decent. I liked my mocha thick, creamy with bits of chocolate in it and the friend enjoyed her cappuccino as well

Chilli Crab Fries $11

Cos I never say no to fries. I had to say the serving was generous and we barely finished 1/3 of it. The chilli crab sauce tasted somewhat similar yet different. It was not as sweet but a little spicier and not as tomato-y

Crayfish Pasta $22

Spaghetti, Crayfish, In-house Chilli Sauce, Eggs, Spring onions

We got the crayfish pasta which the sauce tasted somewhat like the chilli crab sauce. The pasta was well-cooked and the crayfish was delicious. We finished the entire plate

Monochrome’s Brunch $19

Waffle, Sausage, Bacon, Sunny side up, Maple
syrup, Salad

Also got their signature brunch item which came in a well-cooked waffle that was crisp and fluffy. I thought it went really well with the maple syrup. I would probably order the waffles with ice cream next time. I thought the sausage was a little too salty but overall, it was decent

It was definitely a gram worthy place with decent coffee or if you happen to need a break exploring Chinatown, you can drop by here for awhile before touring Singapore. Else, I wouldn’t make my way specially down for it. I mean it’s decent but nothing really outstanding in my opinion
