The Coffee Code – New Cafe at Neil Road Serving Black Grain Waffle

I dropped by this cafe for brunch before my class on the weekend cos the bak kwa waffles caught my eye. But upon seeing the menu, I changed my mind. Located near Maxwell mrt, it was rather crowded at their opening time and even more so when the sky started to pour. I guess it would make a good shelter for awhile

Their menu was quite straightforward, categorised into waffles, bread and sourdough. There was also a small selection of bakes at the counter for you to choose from

Flat White (4oz) $5

I didn’t like the coffee. First taste, it was a little acidic. Then it got better after a few sips. But later when when the food arrived, the taste of the coffee started to change It felt a little bitter to the point the flavours seemed to clash

T.C.C Chicken Waffle $19

Cajun Chicken, Maple Syrup w Hint of Coffee Aroma

I changed the waffles to black grain waffle In all honesty, I don’t really know what it was but it sounded interesting so I gave it a try

The chicken was really tasty. From the marinate to the doneness of it, it was juicy, tender and delicious. I thought it was better than the waffles. The waffles on the other end.. was pretty average. It wasn’t bad yet it was a little dry. The heart-shaped presentation was cute though. I give them plus points for this. Perhaps I should have just chosen the normal waffles

Soft Serve – Uji Matcha $6.50

Got a soft serve cos I wasn’t feeling satisfied. However, the matcha serve serve was too sweet and creamy. It wasn’t to my liking. So I barely finished it

Well, I guess I won’t be returning anytime soon. There’s no lack of cafes in that area. I guess it gives me more reasons to try something else. And for those who are thinking of visiting, I think you can give other options on the menu a try instead
