The friend wanted to have dim sum so we ended up at Cherry Garden cos we have never tried before. Their dim sum brunch has 2 timings: 11am to 1pm or 1.30pm to 3.30pm and cost $68 per pax for adult. The good thing about dim sum here is it runs like ala carte buffet style so you can order as many dishes as you like till you can’t eat anymore
The place wasn’t very packed but at least half the restaurant was filled when we were there for the first seating
And then we went a little over the top with the ordering
Steamed Prawn Dumpling with Black Garlic
Steamed Pork Siew Mai with Baby Abalone
Steamed Pork Xiao Long Bao
Steamed Kurobuta Char Siew Bao
Steamed Crystal Dumplings w Fresh Mushroom and Black Truffle
The crystal dumplings tasted a little strange to me..
Crispy Beancurd Roll Filled with Prawn & Lychee
But we really like the crispy beancurd skin
Fried Yam Puff & Roasted Duck & Mushroom
Wok Fried Radish Cake w XO Sauce
Thought the radish cake was good too
Steamed Iberico Pork Ribs w Black Bean Sauce
And the pork ribs just tasted like fats without the meat
Steamed Pork & Prawn Dumplings w Vinegar & Spicy Sauce
This was a little disappointing. It was just okay but nothing outstanding
Steamed Custard Bun w Yam
And the custard bun wasn’t what we were expecting
Daily Soup: Watercress Soup
The watercress soup tasted like home, like what your mum would have cooked at home
Golden Pumpkin Soup w Minced Chicken & Corn
And the pumpkin soup was really nice too
Cantonese-style Roasted Pork Belly, Charcoal Roasted Duck, Honey-Glazed Kurobuta Char Siew (From Left)
The roasted delight was a must-order
We had second portions of all 3
Crispy Wasabi-Aioli Prawns w Mango & Tobiko
Fried Chinese Bun w Chilli Crab Sauce
We find the mantou tasted good without the sauce. The sauce felt a little bit too watery
Braised Cod Fish w Spinach, Tofu, Capsicum & Black Bean Sauce
Sliced Braised Beef Fillet w Five Spices
The braised beef was really disappointing. The meat was tough and we left this plate untouched in the end
Shredded Pork & Century Egg Congee
Braised Ee-Fu Noodles w Nameko Mushroom, Silver Sprouts & Chives
The noodles were decent but the portion was huge. We felt so full after having one bowl each
Cherries in Nuerhong & Aged Kuei Hua Wine Cocktail Jelly Served w Lychee Sorbet (left), Chilled Mango w Sago Pearls, Pomelo & Lime Sorbet (right)
Organic Black Bean Pudding w Avocado & Sesame Ice cream
This was surprisingly nice. So glad we gave this a try in the end
Cream of Almond w Glutinous Rice Dumpling
Hawthorne Jelly w Chestnut
This reminded me of childhood snack. If you want something light, you can give this a try
I thought the dim sum here was okay but not really outstanding. If you want somewhere in the city and everywhere else is fully booked, you can give this place a try but I felt like it wouldn’t be my first choice for dim sum to go
