Black Tap – NYC Burger Joint Makes Its Way To Singapore

There has always been a consistent queue, regardless of lunch or dinner. I’ve been here once for lunch and I thought it was just okay. Perhaps I should have gone for a different doneness of the beef patty, and then the friend suggested this place for dinner so I thought I give it another try. There’s a long line waiting to be seated while we were in queue. Do note Black Tap only seats guests when the full party turns up and they don’t accept reservations either. But I thought the queue moved pretty fast so that’s one good thing for hungry people. Known for their stacked gourmet burgers and crazy over-the-top milkshakes, this is their first Asian outpost of the NYC-based burger institution

Queso & Chips $10

Zesty Cheese Sauce with Warm Tortilla Chips

Had some chips as starters cos we were famished from queuing. The sauce feels little too heavy for my liking and I thought it didn’t go quite well with the chips

Texan BBQ Wings $15

Sweet BBQ, Scallions, Served with House Buttermilk-Dill Dressing

We thought the wings were good though the sauce was so much it kind of outshone the wings

The Boss Burger (Served with Pint of Kona Longboard Lager) $33

Double Bacon Cheeseburger, Lettuce, Tomato with Special Sauce

A special item this month – the Boss Burger. It was so huge I’m impressed the friend could finish it

Crispy Chicken Sandwich $23

Korean BBQ, Buttermilk Coleslaw, Cilantro, Fresh Lime & Spicy Mayo, Served with Fries

I tried the chicken this time round and I must admit the chicken tasted way better than the beef. Though it’s a little ironic that they are famous for their Prime burgers instead. I like the flavour of the chicken patty but I felt like the crust was a little disappointing

The Old Fashioned $22

Prime burger, Crimini mushrooms, Swiss, Caramelized Onions, Horseradish Sauce

We thought the beef patty tasted a little tough. Perhaps of how thick the patty is, it felt less chewy. I love the bun though. And the portion was so generous we had difficulty finishing them

Snapseed 3

Brooklyn Blackout (Chocolate Shake) $19

Chocolate Frosted Rim with Mini Chocolate Chips Topped with a Chocolate Brownie, Whipped Cream & Chocolate Drizzle

We got one shake to try just cos they are famous for it. And it took 7 adults to finish it. Perhaps we are not used to the sweetness and thickness of the shake or maybe they could just adapt the shakes to make it LESS sweet. Oh gosh, this is diabetic please

Well, it proved a second chance didn’t warrant a different verdict. Also I noticed there were so many kids eating at the restaurant yet they don’t have a kids menu. Well, Black Tap feels overrated. Okay, next Burger Institution please?
