Rustico at Hay Shed Hill introduces Mediterranean tapas for diners where you can indulge in the shared plates of the Rustico Tapas brand. Sitting among a beautiful vineyard, you can choose to dine outside or sit in the beautifully designed restaurant. And well, considering the weather was too chilly, we opted for the second option
Riesling $11
The Riesling from their own winery was beautifully clean and madly sweet. It was the perfect drink to start the meal
gf Linley Valley Pork Belly with Saffron, Apple Puree, Pedro Ximinez Jus $26
One of the table’s favourites, the pork belly was nicely done. The skin was so crisp that my knife couldn’t slice through
gf Pan Roast Chicken maryland, Piquillio Peppers, Broad Beans $24
The chicken had a robust flavour to it with the onions and peppers, and was a very homely dish. I love the kick in the sauce which was pretty addictive to drink
gf Barramundi with Braised Cannellini Bean, Sauce Vierge $28
The fish was my favourite. The sweetness of the meat with the crispy fish skin, complemented with a citrusy mixture of chilli and peppers
Pizza with Salmon, Capers, Goats Cheese, Dill $29
The pizza however was probably the most disappointing of all. Love the pizza dough but I think salmon should not go with pizza. It just tasted kind of weird
Their portions are catered for 4 guests, so any extra portion will be charged accordingly. The portion might be a little small for one, so you will probably need to order more dishes to feel full. We skipped desserts cos we had plans to go to another place instead. But if given the chance (and the stomach space), I would definitely love to try their desserts as well. Rustico makes a good place to have an undisturbed lunch if you are in the area, and I think it is worth visiting
