海里鮮蒸氣石窩 – Hong Kong Steam Seafood, So Good You Won’t Regret

With the recent hype of Hong Kong steam seafood in Singapore, thought we should try the originals since we are there anyway. So I chanced upon this restaurant and decided to book our dinner during one of the nights. The place is located in Jordan, just 3 minutes away from the mtr so it makes the location pretty accessible

So ordering goes like this: you can choose to order a set menu which comprises of different seafood (and meat) or go ala carte. Well, we went both ways. We ordered the menu at HKD298/pax and add on Alaskan crab at HKD388

The steamer that does the job

There will be a service staff who does all the cooking for you so you literally just have to sit there and eat. They will steam the seafood individually starting with the lightest flavour so that you can slowly enjoy the feast to come

It was an incredulous moment when we saw the unsteamed carrot cake on the trolley cos we were so full after the 4th dish only to realise we have heaps to finish and carrot cake for dessert

The Alaskan crab is a must order. So fresh, sweet and finger licking good. You can taste the lingering crab broth and each claw is filled with succulent meat

The abalone was rather interesting. I think I prefer the usual abalone that we always eat, by slice

SOOO juicy with the meat tart and flavourful

The oyster looked kinda strange but I assure you this is probably one of the best tasting steamed oyster. Plump and juicy with the taste of sea

And came the fish with black bean sauce that doesn’t seem all appealing but it tasted very good probably cos the sauce makes it really appetising. The fish meat tasted like fish ball meat with a bouncy texture which was rather interesting

We were so full from the meal we didn’t really want to touch this. But once you start, you cannot stop. The white radish was really fine and segregated easily upon cutting with the sweetness overwhelming in your mouth. Topped with a little XO sauce, it was simply amazing

And comes the best part of the meal

The beancurd skin porridge that was immersed with all the seafood essence dripped when steaming. It didn’t taste anything like seafood porridge but what I like was the creamy texture that makes this a very hearty and warming dish

The seafood here is generally fantastic, from the crabs to the bamboo clams with vermicelli and oysters. But I would give up the clams, chicken, beef and mushroom for the stomach space. The meal isn’t the cheapest we had, but I think the quality of the food and the experience makes this a very worthwhile one, and I would recommend anyone to give this a try
