Travelogue: Bangkok Part 3 (Eathai, Crumbs by After You, 661 Silom, Park Society Bar, Roast Coffee & Eatery)

We wanted to have Crumbs icecream at Central Embassy, so the local friend suggested we try this atas foodcourt at the same shopping mall called Eathai. It works like Marche where you get a card before entering. Then you just go to the stalls and give them the card to order and pay when you leave the place. The place was big and pretty empty and we thought they probably target tourist for their prices are definitely higher than what you eat on the streets.

Still, they have everything and anything there, like coconut icecream 😀

The card you get before entering

Thai Seafood Salad

Fried Oyster Egg

Basil Pork

Green Curry Chicken

Shrimp Fried Rice

Pad Thai

Thai Crispy Crepe

Food for 3 (minus the seafood salad). I think people will think we haven’t eaten for days. Even the stall owner was shocked when I ordered so much food. But we wiped off everything here. I think we were amazing. Foodwise, they were pretty awesome. I love the green curry chicken. It was very delicious. I thought the shrimp fried rice and fried oyster egg were pretty decent too. Just a pity we didn’t order tom yum soup. The whole meal came up to SGD40 which was actually pretty reasonable. I think Eathai is worth going, if you just wanna dine in comfort (in aircon) and enjoy some decent Thai cuisine

The whole shopping mall was empty, and very very cold. It did not help when we went to have icecream next after a very filling lunch. There were many nice cafes and restaurants at Central Embassy and it was a pity we didn’t manage to visit much of them. Oh wells, next time then. Crumb Icecream is the sister of the dessert brand After You, which I’m sure many of you have heard of it. Honestly I don’t know what’s so special about this icecream, other than it looks good in pictures. haha

Salted Caramel Popcorn Icecream

It was really sweet, but we couldn’t stop. I guess the combination just works in someway, though I advise you not to eat it everyday. And well, it’s not that cheap either

We picked a place to celebrate the friend’s birthday and so we ended up at 661 Silom, a steakhouse which was opened recently. It’s supposed to be a fine dining steakhouse with beautiful interior fittings. Well the place is definitely pretty but the food is at most mediocre. And there was absolutely nobody on a Monday night.

Complimentary Bread

Complimentary Appetizer

Burrata

The taste of the cheese was light but the texture wasn’t good. I thought the cucumbers and tomatoes taste better

Striploin Tasting w French Fries

KU Tasting w Garlic Mash

The beef was bad and it was nowhere near prime. And for the price we paid, it’s totally not worth it. We had asked for medium rare, it came to us pretty rare so we asked for both plates to be medium. The second time the meat came, it was cold. Like how on earth can it be cold? Anyway, skip this place. It’s a rip-off

The only consolation was the pretty decoration on the birthday dessert

661 Silom

Baan Silom Arcade, Silom Road, Bangkok

Ended the night at Park Society Bar cos the friend wanted to go to a rooftop bar

Well, it’s not a place I will go again. There wasn’t much view and drinks were bad and they have the most ridiculous seats ever

Seriously, I don’t know how they expect people to sit when the slits widen whenever there’s pressure on it. Sometimes design and comfort just don’t go hand in hand.

Cocktail of the month: Apple Cocktail

So we finally visited Roast Coffee & Eatery, which was our only brunch cafe in Bangkok. I like the ambience of the place for it being very relaxed. And the friend has been wanting to eat their strawberry waffles for the longest time.

Flat White (w a died latte art)

Ice Espresso

Tea (for the sick friend)

Roasted Tomato Soup

The soup was interesting. It didn’t have a strong tomato taste and was more like a puree. I think this was quite hearty for a breakfast option

Crab Cake Eggs Benedict

Parma Ham Egg Benedicts

According to the friends, the crab cake one was nicer (cos well I don’t eat egg bens)

But ooh, look at the yolk oozing out

Strawberry Waffles

The waffles were good, fluffy and light. But I thought it wasn’t that spectacular. It felt like something you can put it together yourself. Or rather cos the friend had given us a high expectations of how awesome the waffles are gonna be, it didn’t live up to my expectations

Monkey Business

Banana pudding w cream and bananas and everything sweet

Is Roast good? Nope, not really, well at least in my opinion but it’s an affordable brunch place. So don’t have to cry even if you give it a miss, there is really no loss here.
