The friends wanted to check out Toku Nori handroll bar for their birthday so we made it down one day. The restaurant was really crowded despite having 2 seatings and we had to wait awhile for our table to be available. The menu was quite straightforward, giving you the option of 2 sets available with ala carte available as well. I went for the Tokusen 4 rolls, priced $45 while the rest tried the set of 5

We ordered so much the staff was doubting us. lol

Mushroom Fries
The mushroom fries was off the menu but this was delicious. Each mushroom strip was taut, juicy and outer layer was crisp and tasty

Red Crab Crispy Sushi $18
Deep Sea Red Crab, Chives, Caviar, Crisp Sushi Rice
This was a little confusing for me. I feel like they tried to make it crisp like hashbrown texture but the rice seems to be a little on the harder side. Crab was good though caviar wasn’t really necessary.

Ika Geso Karaage $14
Fried Squid Tentacles, Citrus Mayo
A rather decent plate of squid

Ebi Poppers $12
Shrimp, Tobiko, Tomato Kabocha Puree, Nori Shell
I had not much recollection of this dish. I guessed, it must be pretty forgettable

Toku Wagyu Don $24
Yakiniku Wagyu Karubi, Sukiyaki Onions, Onsen Egg, White Truffle Oil
The beef was tender and generally a rather flavourful bowl of wagyu don

Hotate w Yuzu Kosho, Lime & Chives (left)
Engawa w Roast Garlic, Shiro Miso (right)
I preferred the engawa to the hotate. The scallop was nothing to shout about but you can taste the fattiness in the engawa and the oiliness of the fish with the rice goes pretty well

Wagyu & Uni, Caviar (left)
Foie Gras, Garlic Soy Glaze, Spicy Leek (right)
I thought the wagyu & uni was good, till the foie gras roll made its entrance. If there was anything you need to try on the menu, I would say it would be these 2 items. Though I must say after trying all 4 rolls, we were quite full already

Warabi Mochi Trio $12
Ending with some warabi mochi which was well, just okay I guess
I thought it’s not bad for a casual joint if you want to try some decent handrolls. And they had an interesting list of sake which you can had your fill. Though they don’t have alot options for other sides if you want to order but I guess the main point of coming here are the handrolls anyway
