Popped by Dempsey Cookhouse & Bar for lunch since we were in the vicinity and to my surprise, it’s actually quite crowded for a weekday lunch. The restaurant was located at Como Dempsey, sharing the same space with Ippoh Tempura Bar & Candlenut. The bar would catch your attention once you enter, followed by brightly lit interior and high ceiling. It’s actually quite a pretty place
Tropical Colada $22
Coconut Washed Plantation 3 Stars Rum | Pandan | Pineapple | Passion Vanilla Foam
We skipped wine since we were gonna have a round 2 later and decided to go for some cocktail instead. This tropical cocktail definitely reminded me of enjoying a drink in the summer breeze. Very refreshing
Tangy Scotsman $22
Mackintosh Whisky | Homemade Cacao Vanilla Liqueur | Sparkling Orange
The second drink we had was a whisky-inspired drink though I felt it was actually quite light for a whisky based drink
Complimentary bread to start
Crab Cake, Celeriac Ramoulade, Grapefruit & Ginger
We got the 3-course set lunch priced $65 cos it seemed to be more value for money after we looked through the menu. We really liked the texture of the crab cake. It was full of crab meat aside, the lump of cake was towards the softer texture so when you sliced it apart, you could favour the meat and the sweetness of the seafood
Grilled Octopus, Smoked Paprika Creme Fraiche & Guajillo Vinaigrette +$8
Very well cooked octopus, potatoes and a tasty sauce to go along with it
Wood Fired Tiger Prawns, Chilli Butter, Shoestring Potatoes +$15
The grilled taste of the prawns was evident. The prawns themselves were big and succulent and we enjoyed that addictive bed of crispy potato slices that went along with it
Seared Sea Trout, Carrot Habanero Lime Sauce, Brussel Sprouts
Our first impression was salmon’s cousin? Lol. The trout was very nicely cooked. It was soft, tender and juicy. We thought the brussel sprouts were really good too. If you are a fish person, you would probably enjoy this alot
Brown Butter Apple Tart, Cinnamon Ice creamCoconut Panna Cotta, Tropical Fruit, Calamansi Sorbet
We were less impressed by the desserts. Generally they were okay but perhaps we had too much desserts before coming here
I thought the food here was pretty decent and a size-able portion. And it made a good place to hang out or chill with your girlfriends in such a pretty setting. It’s worth considering if you are looking for a place to dine at Dempsey too
