The Glasshouse Specialty Coffee & Artisan Toast Bar – Third Time’s The Charm

The Glasshouse Specialty Coffee & Toast Bar is the latest opening to CHIJMES. Located in the corner, you wouldn’t miss this structure with transparent frames that allow natural lighting to run into the cafe. The cafe itself is decorated with lots of plants though the bigger-than-usual pots seem a little strange to fit in. I would have much preferred florals instead. I actually visited the cafe three times, one being it was in the soft launch period and there was no food, second time they ran out of pastries (how can??) and finally, I was glad I was third time lucky

I like the design of the space. It’s minimal and beautiful. Though it might get pretty crowded at times given its pretty small space

Beans are sourced from Common Man Coffee Roasters. Lucky Bastard, a blend of Brazilian and Ethiopian coffee beans

Flat White $4

We had the flat white in single shot which wasn’t as impressive with a watery aftertaste. Though the coffee tasted creamy and nutty, it felt like it wasn’t complete. We decided to stick with double shot the next time

Mocha $5

The hint of chocolate wasn’t very rich. You can still enjoy the coffee with subtle hint of chocolate from time to time

Iced Latte $5

I did enjoy my iced latte though. It was roasted, creamy with a nutty blend

Classic Salmon $8

Smoked Salmon, Herbed Cream Cheese, Zucchini, Radish & Dill

I didn’t know what to expect from their toasts but this was surprisingly good. The components blend well together and I like the herbed cream cheese that gave a nice flavour to the dish. It’s filling enough but I wouldn’t eat this for lunch. I wouldn’t mind if I wanted something light to fill my stomach

Lemon Drizzle

The pastry was delicious. The light lemon flavour, the soft sponge with an icing drizzle. I would love to have this again

I left pretty impressed with this cafe. I think they have the full package from the aesthetic to the quality of food. But perhaps they should really consider changing the fauna to floral and extending their menu. It would definitely be an instagram hit
