Kickstarting the first of my birthday meals at Yen Social cos the friend was craving for beef and well, cravings need to be satisfied. Yen Social is created by the team behind Yen Yakiniku which I had visited long time ago. So we decided to give Yen Social a try. Located at Duo Galleria, the restaurant is located at a corner though if you just follow the signs, you will find them quite easily

You have to cook the beef on your own though special cuts will be handled by the staffs. Even though that was communicated to us, somehow most of our meat ended up cooking by them. Well, we are not complaining. lol

Tokusen Wagyu Karubi $29

Paired with their special wasabi that wasn’t spicy at all, I thought the pairing went well especially since the meat was quite oily on its own

A5 Wagyu Ribeye Cap $85/100g

The ribeye was really good. And given it was part of their special cut menu, it better be. lol

Kimchi Jiggae $14
The jiggae was just okay and I thought it could be served hotter. You can give this a miss if you are looking at other options

Kimchi $6
Having a side of kimchi cos the meat was quite oily overall

Iberico Pork Jowl $16

We added the pork later on and I thought the pork was not bad

The grilled taste was evident and you could taste the fragrance, sweetness and the slight porky taste due to how thin the meat was

Cabbage w Homemade Miso $6
I asked they had sanchu and they didn’t. So they recommended the cabbage instead which was honestly quite a good side to go along. I thought it went really well with the miso too

Thick Cut Wagyu Karubi $39
We ended the meal with another karubi which was also rather oily. lol
I thought the quality of meat was rather mid-tier but passable. They weren’t bad but it wasn’t very impressive either. It was okay lor. But if you don’t mind a causal yakiniku joint with a quiet and comfortable environment, this place is worth a consideration
