Gion Tadayasu – Serving Edomae-Style Sushi in Kyoto

This Edomae-style sushi place opened in 2017 in Gion district and is considerably new. But despite being only in the sushi scene for a year plus, it has risen to become one of the top sushi restaurants in Kyoto, earning favours from sushi enthusiastic. I was excited to visit and reached pretty early so I just sat at the porch waiting for the restaurant to officially open for lunch. I was probably one of the earliest but as time passed, all the seats were taken up. Many of the diners, like me, were just visiting Kyoto and had a chance to visit Gion Tadayasu. But probably at the end of the meal, this might not be their only visit

I went for the omakase lunch which had 15 pieces in total. It was more than enough

I love each and every piece of sushi (okay maybe minus one) and was honoured to be served by chef Morita. He tried to engage me in conversations (in English no less) and made me feel very welcomed. It was probably one sushi experience I will not forget for it was more than enjoyable. To be honest, if I’m visiting Kyoto again, it’s probably a place I love to visit again
