Lumo is quite an interesting place. Hidden from view, you can’t really see the interior from the outside. But when you stepped inside the restaurant, the dark exterior contrasted with a centre cocktail bar really lit up the place. Its cosy atmosphere also makes it a good location for gatherings cos we saw so many birthday cakes being brought in that day
Stevie J $24 (left)
Builleit Bourbon, Apple Vermouth, Calvados Blanc, Demerara Syrup
Devil’s Breeze $22 (right)
Plantation Original Dark Rum, Watermelon Blend, Campari Liquer, Lime Juice
Lime Gin Fizz $24
Hendrick’s Gin, Lime, Cream, Egg White, Soda, Rose Water
Deep Fried Squid w Smoked Cream $13
We were hungry. So these squids were a really good one to start. Love the seasoning on the squid and how nicely done they were without being too chewy
Roasted Cauliflower Steak, Togarashi Aioli, Lemon Zest $15
Saw this appearing on the IG often, we decided to give it a go as well. I say this roasted cauliflower was really worth ordering. In fact, this was our favourite dish of the night. Not sure how they make a vegetable so yummy, but you can taste the spice, the char and the crunchiness of the cauliflower really nicely
Hokkaido Scallops, Burnt Leek, Spinach Veloute $30
Scallops were a little disappointing in my opinion as they were a touch overcooked though I enjoyed the spinach veloute. Well if they could have been a little less rubbery, it would be perfect
April Special: Duck Leg Confit, Green Lentils, Veal Jus $38
Went for the April’s special cos I personally like duck confit. This version of the duck confit is well executed though might be a little salty for some. The mum was joking it would go very well with a bowl of white rice. Me: …
Japanese Asari Clams Fettuccine, Fennel $26
I’m a little on the fence on the fettuccine. I liked the light buttery taste of the pasta but I felt like it took away the sweetness of the clams, which was a pity..
Apple Pie Pillow, Vanilla Gelato, Rum & Raisins, Butterscotch Sauce $16
They don’t have much options for desserts so we took the less filling option. I thought the apple pie was good and different. Shaped like a pillow, crispy yet soft dusted in sugar and wrapped with a sweet custard of apple, it was a sweet ending to the meal
Personally, Lumo felt like a good place to hangout with decent food and cocktails. Though there were only 2 service staffs running the ground, but it didn’t felt like service was compromised which was really essential. And overall the price was reasonable too. But remember to make your reservations early cos they get full pretty easily
