Kin – Straits Cuisine So Good I wanna Go Back Again

Kin Restaurant at Straits Clan serves heritage cuisine by Chef Damian D’Silva. Tried his food once at Folklore and was left with an impression. So I was excited to see what Kin has to offer. The ambience at Kin is somewhat quieter and more classy with a handful of reservations going out to the public since Straits Clan is a members-only club.

But I did enjoy the quietness and privacy that Kin has to offer

Sunday’s Fried Chicken $16

Pop’s Sunday Fried Chicken, Indonesian-Style Spices, Lemongrass-Chilli

Started with some starters but this was somewhat disappointing. It wasn’t bad but it just didn’t stand out in anyway. Perhaps we should give other dishes a try

Eurasian Pie $38 (Special)

Stew of Chicken, Meatball, Pork Sausage, Carrot, Potato & Spices in Puffy Pastry

This festive special was SO good. Love the hearty meat stew with the crisp puff pastry. We finished right down to the bottom

Fishmonger’s Haul – Seasonal Price

The fishmonger’s haul of the day was the pomfret and tasted best freshly steamed for its sweetness. The fish was fresh and sweet and the slightly sourish and salty broth complemented it very well

Sambal Prawn Petai $20

Fresh Prawn & Bitter Bean, Spicy Sambal, Grandma’s Recipe

It looks very spicy but it didn’t tasted that fiery. The sambal was delicious and so were the huge crunchy prawns

Chap Chye Masak Rempah Titek $30

Mildy-Spiced Stewed Vegetable

I really enjoyed Kin’s version of chap chye with a really robust seafood flavour to it. Give it a try! I felt like this is a Peranakan dish not to be missed at any place

Dessert Sampler $20

A Selection of Kin’s Signature Homemade Desserts – Kueh Kosui, Kueh Bengkah and Sugee Cake

One should never leave Kin without trying their desserts. Or if you are too full from the mains, you should definitely give their kueh kosui a try. In my opinion, it’s out of this world

I think I just found another restaurant that serves equally good Peranakan cuisine. And I will go back there anytime
